Do tradies need a website?
Not always. If referrals and Facebook keep your diary full, a complete Google Business Profile does the basic job of being found. A website earns its place when you want a place you control that shows your services, areas, prices and recent jobs in more detail than a social page lays out.
Facebook already brings me jobs. Why add a website?
Keep Facebook. A website adds three things to it.
- You control the layout. A Facebook page works inside the format Facebook sets. On your own site you decide what goes first, how services are grouped and what the contact step looks like.
- It answers questions before the call. Prices, service areas and how a job works can sit on a page a customer reads before they ring you.
- It gives Google more to work with. A Business Profile gives Google the basics: your category, contact details and hours. A website gives Google and customers more detail about what you do and where.
What does a tradie website need?
The basics are a home page that names your trade and area, a page for each main service, a page for the areas you cover, a contact page with a form that reaches you, and a page of recent jobs. That is five pages, which is the size of our Starter plan.
What does a tradie website cost?
Our Starter website starts from $9,999 ex GST for up to five unique pages and a contact form. It takes 12 weeks from plan to launch and is invoiced monthly over three months. The Growth plan starts from $14,999 ex GST. Our guide to what a website costs in Australia explains what moves the price.
When can a tradie skip a website?
If your diary is full and you do not want more work, a website adds cost without a purpose. Keep your Business Profile complete, reply to your reviews and keep your Facebook page current. Our guide to SEO for tradies lists what to fix first.
Questions tradies ask about websites
Can I keep using Facebook?
Yes. Your website and your Facebook page can run side by side, and each can link to the other.
Can I update the website myself?
Yes. We build on Webflow, so you can make small updates yourself, and we provide a step-by-step guide to updating your content. You can ask us about a training session for your team, which costs extra.
How long does a tradie website take?
A Starter website takes 12 weeks from plan to launch. A Growth website takes 16 to 18 weeks.
